Why Direct Mail?
Direct mail is increasingly being used by companies as a method of prospecting for new customers. Sending a mailer may seem old school, but with advances in printing technology, personalization will be the key to your success. Your prospect’s company name and/or contact name can be merged directly onto the back of a jersey, locker, scoreboard, starting lineup, mascot sign, etc. Relevant images that look like the prospect demographically can also be incorporated (families with young children see a picture that looks like them). The same thing can be done by using industry-relevant pictures when mailing to specific types of businesses (attorneys, doctors, contractors, banking/finance, etc.). No other medium is going to provide this ability to deliver a one-to-one message within images and text.
This personalization gets the prospect’s attention and makes them more likely to respond to the offer. Studies show that personalized post cards versus regular static print post cards generate double the average response rates.
By sending out direct mail ahead of sales calls, prospects will be warmed up and more receptive to your sales representatives. As an added bonus, prospects may call you for more information on their own. Pick that low hanging fruit!
